This box shows wonderful detail in the patterning all over and feels like a small piece of architecture

I pulled this stunning 1940s Japanese hand painted porcelain vase out of the crumbling barn attic of a man who had served in Japan during WWII—amazingly

including in combination with splint ash on the lower half of the vessel

I believe there was once a sticker on the bottom of the base indicating that the sculpture was made in Spain

I believe these date to the Civil War era, and are likely a mixed pair one is a bit grayer in tone and the other flecked a bit more brown but they are of the same size, just shy of 1 2" across on each side, and very lovely together. Very good antique condition.
