The Covent Garden macaronies mb-height 2887 holding a bell in his'The Covent Garden macaronies', 1772. A macaroni (possibly George Colman) standing outside entrance to Covent Garden Theatre has snatched the wig off the head of a smaller man. A macaroni was a British dandy who affected continental fashions.
