The Hanoverian horse and British lion Finish:Rolled (now Blomfield Street)'The Hanoverian horse and British lion', 1784. Scene in the House of Commons. On the left Charles James Fox is riding the British lion, facing William Pitt the Younger on the horse of Hanover. Satire on the dissolution of Parliament which was prorogued on 24 March 1784 and dissolved on 25 March. Fox was a popular politician but was implacably opposed by King George III and his favoured minister, Pitt.
