Following his record breaking success with the 1000hp Sunbeam, Henry Segrave announced a new attempt was to be made in an all new car. The Golden Arrow was designed by JS Irving and used a Napier Lion aero engine of the Special 930 hp Schneider Trophy Type. The twelve cylinders were in a W formation. The car's low line design was achieved by the use of twin propeller shafts
