Barroche, Chateauneuf Du Pape Fiancee Vintage:2007 Youthfully reticentHarvest before the rains and hitting a whopping 16. 2% alcohol, the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Fiancee (an equal split of Grenache and Syrah) certainly has a modern flair, but is nevertheless a smoking effort that's loaded with notions of cassis, blackberry, truffle, olive tapenade and pepper. Big, voluptuous, concentrated and full bodied, it's still young and unevolved, and will have more than two decades of overall longevity.
