This "black ring" version has a black-painted aperture ring (as you may have surmised) which makes it a whole lot easier to read in bright light than the original reflective chrome version

Metering is inaccurate

except that the rubber grip on the bayonet ring has been removed

though the rubber eyecup is long gone

There is nothing Celtic about this lens, or about Minolta, unless I slept through a couple of pretty important world history classes, which is possible. Anyway, the Minolta MD Celtic 35mm f2. 8 is a surprisingly tiny semi wide prime lens in excellent condition, with clean glass, and good function.
