Joseph Ward, Boston, Beautiful Early (1860s-70s) Stereoview of Coral venus velvet pencils ) One player would holdA beautiful early stereoview of coral, produced by Joseph Ward of Boston, who operated at 1256 Washington 1860s 70s, and who is perhaps best known for photographing Mary Todd Lincoln in mourning attire in 1865 as well as John Wilkes Booth. Im not usually much interested in stereoviews, but to my eye this one is transcendent, with these richly toned matte photos of sculptural spiky coral against the yellow card they are mounted on just exactly right
