Rescued from the Plague john shirley-quirk with a woman carrying a'Rescued from the Plague', 1898; a child is being lifted through an open window during the outbreak of plague which occured in 1665. To the right, a sick woman sits in a doorway. Inspired by Samuel Pepys' diary of September 3rd, 1665.
