I'd guess made of cigar box wood or similarly salvaged bits

and there is something about the velvet that lends a different sort of depth and gravitas and a sort of moodiness

Each measures approx 2 1/2" t x 1 3/4" w x 1/8" thick

with no major dings and the plug in the bottom fitting tight but easily removed

Making it a good tin for holding a stash of pens or pencils, I'd say. 6 1 2" x 6 3 8" x 2 3 8". General wear and light rusting all over, just right to me.
