White on White Bird and Butterfly, Unusual Antique Folk Art Raised Cutwork whalebone carving then rendered under a magnifyingI don't think I've seen an example of quite this sort before this bird and butterfly scratched into the surface of the white card with a fine knife, working at an angle to riase the surface of the card, creating a relief design. Barely there, but very much there, traceable with one's finger as well as with one's eye. 5 1 8" x 2 15 16". Good condition, with some light scattered smudges and stains, all of a piece with it.
