This fabulous thing is a carved wood whistle in the shape of a bird

but the metal appears to be in excellent condition and I do think would shine up some if desired

The one with the lobster is signed (as well as wonderfully painted) on the underside with what looks like "Bd 13

I Austen Company, Chicago, which made some good ones! C. 1910 or so I believe. Hard to beat that green box with red liner and perfectly lined up safety pins and pretty clever too. 3 1 2" x 5 1 2" and in very good, unused condition. A bit of foxing staining visible on the background, pretty minor.
