Germany, Hj. A Winter Service Cap Archive SOUTH AFRICA 1901 (SERJT: MAJ:(HJ Wintermtze). An extremely well preserved HJ winter service cap, constructed of thick dark navy blue wool. It is fully surrounded by fold down side panels, scalloped at the front, offering optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with a silvered bronze buckle and sliding wool knot.
