Portrait of Isaac Newton (1642-1727) Size:L: 80 x 60cm Inner and Middle TempleHead and shoulders portrait of Newton in an open shirt with folded drape. A drawing of the ivory bust now in the British Museum's collections. Inscribed below: 'from a carving in ivory by Le Marchand' and signed lower right 'G. P. Harding fecit.' Commissioned by Charles Turnor. Isaac Newton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1672, he served as its President from 1703 to 1727. Original: pencil on paper. ca. 1840
