Instituted 15 September 1884 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III. (1884 1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with red enameled arms, with a central medallion bearing a raised Griffin, the reverse with five visible rivets securing the structure together, with a barrel hinge and banjo style vertical pinback meeting a round catch, unmarked, measuring 56. 12 mm (w) x
