A Lapland Shield Award Document to Obergefreiter Fritz Kaponig, Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 143 consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac obverse illustrating a stylized man(Heer Lapplandschild Verleihungsurkunde). Constructed of off white paper stock, the obverse bearing a handwritten dedication to OBERGFR. KAPONIG FRITZ of 13. Kompanie, Gebirgsjger Regiment 143, awarded on 22 July 1945, measuring 13. 5 cm (w) x 18 cm (h), secreted within a late period frame, demonstrating some discolouration and creasing, an unusual format notably used on other Lapland Shield documents to this unit in very fine condition.
