Constructed of a silver alloy, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a central depiction of a soldier of the Free City of Frankfurt, flanked by a stone bearing dates 1813 1815, circumscribed by an inscription of MIT GOTT FR DEUTSCHES VATERLAND (WITH GOD FOR THE GERMAN FATHERLAND), the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of ZUR 50 JHRIGE IUBELFEIER DER FREIWILLIGEN VON FRANKFURT A M AM 11. DEC. 1863 (TO THE 50TH
