He returned to the United States to serve as Secretary of State in the administration of President Calvin Coolidge. Kellogg is best known for his involvement, together with French foreign minister Aristide Briand, in drafting the Kellogg Briand Pact, signed in 1928, for which he won the Nobel Peace
