The Saxon mantle Finish:Float frame (Now Grandfather it's your move)The Saxon mantle, (1910). From illuminated manuscripts dating from the 11th century, showing a Saxon man wearing the mantle, a sort of cape worn over the tunic. The mantle flowed in graceful folds, the mode of fastening was either in the centre of the chest or upon one or both shoulders.
