Bell is posed with his left hand resting on a book which rests, with an inkstand, upon a clothed table. An upholstered wooden chair appears behind the sitter. The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: 'MAULL & POLYBLANK, PHOTOGRAPHERS, 55 Gracechurch St. & 187A, Piccadilly, LONDON.' Thomas Bell was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1828. Original:
