I assume this lacquered papier mache box is early 20th century Japanese

with the basket woven of sweet grass on a naturally green dyed splint ash structure and the pin cushion a rosy pink velvet

(I'm now firmly on the hunt!) I love these props just on their own though (especially that great yellow stool!), and as perfect little pedestals for displaying other little things. I believe these pieces date to sometime between the 20s and 40s. They're well
