and it has been enhanced sometime in the early 1900s (the upper and lower half of the bead has been spruced up with paint of some sorts)

They are cast rounded edge, but quite flat 3mm which, 12mm diameter. Smaller size makes great earrings, or a large spacer next to large beads. Some have a bronze coppery color. Brasso can polish them up if you want to clean them.
