The programme for the B-70 was cancelled so the aircraft was given to research into high-speed long-duration flight with the programme finally ending in 1969

The Italian Air Force, West German Luftwaffe and Portuguese Air Force operated the aircraft right up to 1995. The Frecce Tricolori used the G. 91 PAN between 1964 and 1982.
